In Her Studio Magazine

Spaces and Stories of Creative Women

In Her Studio takes readers on a tour through the creative spaces and lives of female artists, designers, and makers.

From traditional to not-so-traditional, artists showcase the places where they create and share the thought processes behind developing their spaces.
Each woman offers a glimpse into her creative life while sharing the tips and tricks that work for her as an experienced artist. In Her Studio spotlights creatives of all types, from full-time professionals to those who create purely for pleasure.

I took photographs of my studio and wrote an article for the first ever issue of In Her Studio Magazine, published by Stampington & Co. offering an insight into my creative sanctuary and how it came to be.

Red 67 Book (coming soon)

A book and art project raising funds to help the UK's most threatened birds.

I was asked by passionate birder YOLO to produce a piece of art to feature in a new book project raising money for 67 UK birds on the Conservation Concern list (also known as the Red List.) Funds from sales of the book and the original artwork through auction will go directly to the BTO and the RSPB. This project is a collaboration between 67 artists and 67 writers to raise awareness of 67 magnificent and remarkable birds whose populations are in severe decline.

My chosen bird from the Red 67 list is our most diminuitive raptor, the merlin falcon. I haven't been fortunate enough to observe these beautiful birds of prey in the wild but I did some research before I put pencil to paper and found a local birds of prey centre that had two young merlin falcons, one male and one female, in residence at their sanctuary. I got in touch and they allowed me to pay them a visit to study them and take photographs in a close-up environment which was such a privilege.

Since taking part in the Red 67 project I have learned more about the importance of the BTO and signed up as a member. Information about the BTO and the Red 67 book can be found through their Twitter accounts: @_BTO and @Red67book. The Red 67 book itself will be published in late 2019.
