The main habitat of the brown hare is in open fields, farmland and surrounding woodland. Unlike rabbits, hares do not dig and burrow, but instead, live their whole lives above ground. They do not have a particular home but shelter in 'forms', which are shallow depressions in the ground or grass. They will sleep in any suitable place, continually moving from one place to another. After seeing my first brown hare while on holiday in the Lake District I felt inspired to take up pen and paintbrush and capture the captivating and elusive character of these wonderful wild animals. This particular artwork is my first watercolour and ink piece in almost seven years.

'Startled Hare' card

Perfect for any occasion, this card is blank inside and is made from an original drawing by myself. This card has been printed in the UK on A6 290gsm card and supplied with a brown 100% recycled envelope. This card will be sent wrapped in a glassine paper sleeve which is 100% recyclable! All of my cards are now sent without plastic cellos to help cut down on single-use plastic waste. Glassine is a translucent, smooth, and slightly glossy paper that is air, water and grease resistant. All of my art cards are fully biodegradable and printed on recycled card. All of my packaging materials are also recycled, biodegradable, and plastic-free - even down to the tape!
